We all know how to use olive oil in the kitchen to make delicate fried dishes and flavorful salads, but what about using it in your beauty routine? Olive oil is one of the finest moisturisers you’ll ever come across, and it’s free of any additives or chemicals. It can be used to make hand creams, hair masks, face treatments, and even detox the entire body! Here are 8 ways olive oil can help you look and feel better.

Mask for your hair
Olive oil is high in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, so it can help your hair grow while still providing it with a healthy glow and much-needed moisture. Although our scalps contain enough oil, the use of hair products and chemical shampoos causes our hair ends to become too dry. To give your hair an extra boost of health, mix a little olive oil with some honey and add it to your hair before washing it. Leave it for 30 minutes to an hour, or overnight. As normal, wash and rinse your hair. Your tresses will be beautiful!

Bathing Oil
If you enjoy taking a hot bath to unwind and forget about your concerns, try substituting 3-4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil for some bubbly chemicals. 7 drops of your favourite essential oil can be added for an extra soothing effect. After this treatment, your skin will be silky smooth!

Face washes
Who’d have guessed that Extra Virgin Olive Oil could be used to cleanse your face? However, this is right! It does wonders for your skin, removing any impurities that might have accumulated during the day. Fill your palm with olive oil, wait for it to warm up a little before gently massaging it into your skin for 30 seconds. Massage your face for a few minutes to alleviate tension and calm your muscles. Take a washcloth and soak it in hot water before applying it to your face and waiting for it to cool. This will allow the oil to work its magic on your pores. Then carefully wipe away any remaining oil from your skin, and you’re ready to go!

Pulling Oil
Oil pulling may seem strange at first, but keep in mind that it is an ancient Ayurvedic procedure, and people back then really did know how to use natural oils to their full potential. The idea is to swish a few tablespoons of olive oil (or any other natural oil) around in your mouth for around 20 minutes. Although that might seem extreme, you can begin with a smaller amount of oil and do it for a shorter period of time. This simple procedure will rid your mouth of bacteria, whiten your teeth, and flush toxins from your entire body! It’s important to spit out the oil and brush your teeth after you’ve completed the operation.
